Today we present you a fantastic idea from Franziska for a little indoor herb garden.
Franziska says: “I love cooking with fresh herbs, but since my kitchen is very dark my herbs never lived very long. Unfortunately I don’t have a balkony and I am not allowed to fix any flower boxes outside of my windows, almost a hopeless situation. But then to months ago I had a great idea: I will built my own hanging garden and that inside.
It is quite simple. The only things you need are old plastic bottles (very convinient are the 2l bottles, f.i. Coke, Fanta, etc.), a thin wooden slat, a thick resilient cord, some mould and different plants or seeds. Wash the bottles thoroughly and cut them in the middle, where they have the biggest diameter. For the dripping water you have to make a hole into the caps with a scissor or a srew driver. Take the upper part of the bottle and make two holes for hanging into both sides; a hole puncher is very useful. Put the caps back onto the bottles and fill in the mould with the plants or seeds, be careful to not fill it higher than 1 cm under the hanging holes, otherwise you will have problems with watering. Than you need to hang the whole with the aid of a 10 cm long wooden stick. You should put the cut part on the lowest bootle, to collect the dripping water. Water the plants once a day and dung them at regular intervals. Ready is the little garden for your kitchen.”

großartig – gratulation an franziska – ein außergewöhnlich kreativer kurzhaarkopf
Fantastic idea! Great for keeping those pesky plastic bottles out of the landfills.
Absolut klasse!
