Hobby-upcycler and architecture student Thomas sent us this pretty “electric windfall”.
Thomas says: “Unfortunatly this kind of vase is soon to be endangered because referring to an EU Directive the disposal of light bulbs is going to be prohibited in the European Union. Therefore, this vase is a reminiscence to all light bulbs that enlightened our homes with a comforting warm light.
There is not much to say about the construction of the vase. You sew the braze point of the positive pole with a hack saw, so you can access to the inside. Now you have to hollow the bulb out with a screwdriver and light force. The base is cast in cement and sand. When the cement is still kneadable you should press the bulb in it to create an imprint. You can fix the bulb with a drop of glue so that it stands solid.”
